Waking Up As If It Was Christmas Morning!

Another year and another Christmas gone by! Something I've done for a few years now is head down to the Byward Market on Christmas morning and buy as many hot chocolates as I can carry (from the Beavertails booth) and deliver them to some of the folks hanging out at the various missions in the market area. Today was that day - and I can actually say I woke up excited to do just that! The girls at the Beavertails booth were kind enough to help me rig a box that could carry a dozen cups, allowing me to deliver a few dozen yummy hot chocolates in all - YAY! Now I know I didn't change the world today and the folks I talked to will likely be at those missions tomorrow - but today I shared some smiles and exchanged some very genuine Christmas wishes with some really wonderful people.

I was particularly touched by a young man named James who approached me for some change - but before he asked, he introduced himself, shook my hand and said Merry Christmas. The irony is, his handshake was firmer and more genuine than some folks that I get to meet in business. (I of course was more than happy to respectfully put some money in his hands) So yes, today was Christmas - not a big busy day, but an awesome day of humility and appreciation. I have a home, I have the means to make a living, I have a wonderful family and friends I love very much - and today I got to meet some really nice appreciative folks! :)
