The Beauty of Saving a Life

The lighting was warm and comforting - the colors in the room were a soft splash of warm and cool - and it was quiet with the exception of physicians and nurses calmly conferring. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to photograph The Ottawa Heart Institute's Interventional Surgery Team perform a very specialized TAVI procedure (a minimally invasive procedure inserting a very special artificial valve into a patient's heart). It was so cool to see such a large team (15 or so) work together with such beautiful synchronized precision - I can only compare it to photographing a concert symphony. It was an impressive and humbling experience!
