The Fiddle and the Cello - an amazing and intense connection

As a photographer I find myself in some very unique and fortunate situations. The last couple nights I was fortunate enough to be photographing the National Arts Centre Orchestra in concert, and these two evenings were exceptionally cool because Pinchas Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth were playing together. Both Pinchas and Amanda are super talented, have dynamic personalities off the stage and are appreciated by audiences world-wide (oh yeah and for those who don't know.....they're also married!)

To move the story along I need to tell you that while I've been shooting backstage at the NAC over the years, I've noticed and appreciated that all the musicians have their own routines and processes to prepare themselves for a concert - getting their instruments and themselves ready to play! (it's really quite an awesome thing to have the privilege to witness) Last night Brent and I found ourselves backstage before the second half of the concert and after all of the musicians went onto the stage, it only left Pinchas and Amanda. They both were super focused and you could tell they were both independently in their own creative heads preparing. Then seconds before they went onstage, they found each other, said a few words to each other - then they touched noses and kissed. It was so so cool, heart warming and humbling! :)

So the amazing concert that the audience saw and the intense creative connection between Amanda and Pinchas they witnessed - was without a doubt the real deal!
