Royal Brand
Could there be anymore hype - or anymore free press to save the Royal Brand? I'm not for or against the monarchy, but I do find it so fascinating just how much interest there is for imagery and scoop on the 'Royal' couple and their big wedding. It's wild just how much insatiable the pop icon hungry public are for a piece of Wills and Kate (did I just say 'Wills' oh my gosh!). Royal questions - where do I find a set of plates, and will we hear soon about the consummation like all of the other details of the wedding?! ;)

Diner Delish!
We had an awesome breakfast at a cool little diner this morning after our Food Bank shoot, Fils Diner on Wellington. Delish is right! And not just the food, but the environment too. Just so cool! Diners are always so colorful, graphic and exude character. Fils Diner is even better though - super friendly service and wonderful diner food! And a wireless network with a naughty password, so you'll need to ask for it. ;)

Hope, Grace, Strength and the beauty of it all.....
Today and this evening I was working on a cool personal project, or maybe better said a collaborative personal project. It's a project inspired by a good friend of mine, Amanda Cottreau who is coordinating a creative fundraising evening called H.E.R. for Cornerstone, a local emergency woman's shelter. I wanted to shoot a series of woman's faces for this event - capturing the hope, the grace and the strength that is in every woman's face. With respect and care, Cornerstone helps to bring these very qualities and so much more, out of the woman that they help. What could be more beautiful than that? :)

Weekend Free Download - Sentinel
The Empire State Building is the tallest skyscraper in New York City, it stands as a historic sentinel to thousands of other grand buildings. I took this image from Rockefeller Center, which boasts such a great view of NYC, because it includes New York City's greatest historical icon.

Shift
Sometimes it seems like everything is in a state of shift - nature, people, business and life. Sometimes these shifts in nature occur gradually as the seasons do, and other times abruptly and violently like in JAPAN. It seems like the business of imagery and the various uses of it, is constantly evolving and shifting - which can be fun and exciting to try and keep up the wave and even at times ride it.
I loved the way the ice on the canal has shifted and fallen, creating beautiful graphic shapes reflecting in the shallow water. Soon the canal will be flooded with fresh water and take on a whole new pristine presence.

Havana Norwood
Yep, I'm still in the old neighborhood - Norwood! I just got back from a little after dinner walk around the inner city neighborhood I grew up in, and every time I do this I'm a bit saddened that it continues to slide. More decay and a few more buildings are either gone altogether or just boarded up. It still seems to be a nice mosaic of different cultures which is cool, but it just seems like a neighborhood that is being somewhat overlooked with the usual revitalization you'd generally see in a very centrally located area.
Something I do find positive and interesting - is that regardless of the depressed economics of the area, it's still super tidy and photogenic. :)

Norwood Noir
It's always cool to return to Norwood - the neighborhood in Edmonton where I grew up, especially to the home and street where I spent most of my early years. This photo is just an eery midnight sky with leafless trees, but for me there's an added mystic to it as it's the same sky I would of had over me all of those years as a kid. Coming home is good for all of us I think, it allows us to reflect and appreciate where we've come from, were we've been and of course where we're going. For me that means experiences of course - but much more importantly it's the people. I'm on an amazing journey with great family and awesome friends. :)
